Super Eagles defender Uche Agbo has joined Belgian side, Standard de Liège on a season loan deal from English Premier League side Watford, the club’s official website has reported.
After completing a successful medical at the club on Tuesday, the former Granada defender was handed the No.5 jersey vacated by his compatriot Elderson Echiejile who spent six month on loan at the club from AS Monaco last season.
According to reports, Agbo failed to rejoin his parent club, Watford due to their inability to secure a work permit for him.
The 21 year old becomes the second player to join the club this off season after Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa arrived as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Malaga at the end of the Spanish La Liga season.
Standard Liège’s Sporting Director Olivier Renard believes the defender cum midfielder will bloster the options of the squad ahead of the new campaign.
“Uche is a young midfielder with a high volume of play and a big capacity of recovery. He has held a good part of last season in Spanish Liga.
“He is ready for a new experience and will increase options in our midfield,” Renard said.
