The commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Glory Emmanuel Edet has warn parents and guardians against the voilation of Child’s right law in the State.
She stated this on sunday during 2017 National Children’s Day, thangsgiving Service held at the Mount Zion light House Full Gospel in Mbiabong ,Uyo.
The Commissioner called on parents to desist from the act of sending their wards to hawk on the streets during schools hours and other act of child abuse as Governor Udom Emmanuel has made provisions for children to enjoy the ongoing free and compulsory education policy in the State.
Edet maintained that with education the possibility of a child having a secure future is guarantee and the society will be safe and free from crimes, kidnapping, indiscriminate killing and uncultured character.
She said the theme: ‘Child protection and sustainable Development Goals, issues and opportunities’ has to do with parental upbringing of the children to secure the future of the country .
The Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Dr. Iniobong Essien while fielding question from journalists at the event assured all Akwa Ibom Children of a conducive environment under his watch as the honorable Commissioner in the Ministry, he used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Udom and his wife Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel for impacting on the people through life touching projects in the state within two years in office .
He reiterated commitments to ensure that Gov. Udom succeed in leaving a clean and green environment legacy in the committee of States in the country and continent at Large.
When asked of his office preparation towards the second anniversary celebration of Governor Udom Emmanuel in retrospect to his performance, he said preparation is in top gear as the state Governor has performed across board ever since his emergence as the executive Governor of the state.
Dr Essien affirmed that his Ministry will join in the celebrations in full measures, while the Governor commissions life touching projects for the benefits of the State
Earlier, His Grace Bishop P. J. Udoakang in his sermon admonished the congregation and parents to train their Children in the way of the Lord, so that as they grow they will not depart from the ordinances of the parents in the area of prudent financial management.
According to the clergy ,” a well train child will avoid the temptation of spending above his limit”.
