Tricycle operators in Akwa Ibom State is about to witness another transformation as the Honourable Commissioner for Transport and Petroleum Hon. Orman Esin is set to run the ministry with new and improved ideas as what use to seem impossible is now becoming possible.

This was Witnessed earlier today, during morning briefing of Tricycle Owners Association by the Commissioner in the Ministry’s Annex at Ikot Ekpene road.

The Commissioner hinted that from next week, Saturdays and public holiday will be ticket free day for all keke riders operating in the state, this arrangement was made after several petition and appeal by the operators and agreement was reached between government and Union.

Ensuring it free, the Commissioner noted that henceforth no tax force is operating in Akwa Ibom State as all team has been disengaged, “free sticker will be shared to all Keke operators for free of charge, which will serve as a sign for the free ticket days”

He also inform them that the Governor sent him, not only to inform them about the free ticket days, but to inform them that he is ready to work with them, having heard all their request and cries especially with the current economic situation of the country.

Responding during the brief, the Publicity Secretary of Tricycle Owners Association Comrade Effiong Etim Effiong declared Wednesday 10th may 2017 as a Solidarity Rally for Governor Udom Emmanuel asking that all Keke operators in the state will March in solidarity to the new improvement they’ve witnessed so far in the ministry, demanding for more improvement as said by the Commissioner.

During an interview session with the Commissioner, Hon. Orman Esin said “I am more focused in moving Akwa Ibom State forward and making sure keke operators comply with government directives”

“Before the tax force usually portray Government in a bad light, now we ensure to change them to Office of Compliance, with well matured and behaved individuals, having gone through proper educational training, paper work and physical training by relevant authorities”

“My plan in the keke sector is that if the keke are ready to comply with government directive, as we know that motivation creates compliance that is why the Governor has declared Saturdays and Holidays free tickets days”

He also complain about detractors who signed MOU that are not in the interest of Government, advising them to give up their selfish ambitious act for Peace to reign in the transportation sector.

“I am determined to discharge my duties diligently, but some people are set to destroy and distract Government effort” he added.
