Transformation Ambassadors for Udom (TAU) Itu chapter has commended Sen. Anietie Okon for his unflinching support to Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
This was contained in a press release jointly signed by Itu chapter coordinator of TAU comrade Iniubong Effanga and his Chapter Secretary Comrade Philips Bassey. The group noted that an attack on Sen. Anietie Okon is an attack on the Popularity, Progress and Goodwill of Gov. Udom Emmanuel in Itu Local Government area. The group went further to warn elected officers to stop attacking Sen. Okon whom they noted is the father of politics in Itu. They enjoined all elected officers in Itu to embrace Sen. Anietie Okon as the political Leader of Itu or risk being reported to the state Secretariat of the group.
The press release reads “Our attention has been drawn to an attempt by a few group of unpopular elements in Itu to drag the good name of our Leader Sen. Anietie Okon into the mud.
Ordinarily, we would have ignored the false cooked up story sponsored by “an elected officer” circulating in the media which aim at demeaning the massive popularity and followership of Sen. Aneitie Okon in Itu Local Government Area, but for the sake of posterity, we wish to clearly state that; without mincing words, Sen. Anietie Okon is the Political Leader and Strong Pillar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Itu Local Government Area.
It is boldly on record that, Sen. Anietie Okon is the Pioneer National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria. Sen. Anietie Okon is also a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Uyo Senatorial District in the National Assembly. Sen. Anietie Okon is the foundation on which PDP sits in Itu Local Government Area since in the days of Chief (Dr.) Godswill Obot Akpabio (CON) as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
It is on record that all aspirants from Itu used the huge popularity and goodwill of Sen. Anietie Okon to clinch the ticket of the PDP in the 2015 party primaries and went ahead to ride on the Senator’s popularity to win the general elections in Itu.
Sen. Anietie Okon having provided the foundation for the emergence of all political office holders in Itu local government area deserves first class respect as an elder statesman.
We also state that Sen. Anietie Okon is a strong pillar for the Government of Gov. Udom Emmanuel, being an elder that traversed the length and breath of Akwa Ibom State to canvass for votes in 2015 for Gov. Udom which led to the massive victory for PDP.
As a group with structures spread across all the wards and units of Itu Local Government Area, we clearly condemn the evil attack by few unpopular elements on the father of politics in Itu Sen. Anietie Okon.
We unequivocally state that an attack on Sen. Anietie Okon is an attack on a strong pillar of Gov. Udom Emmanuel, and as a group which aims to promote our Boss Gov. Udom in good light, we hereby totally condemn the actions of “an elected officer” who wants to bite the fingers that fed him.
We finally state that we will report any elected official who is causing problems in Itu Local Government Area to our state secretariat. All elected officials must embrace the fact that Sen. Anietie Okon is the father and Leader of Itu Local Government Area.
