…Re-awards 23.25km Road In Oruk Anam To WE Construction

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel on Monday, flagged off the dualization of 15.1km Ndoneyo, Ikot Akpaetek, Ikwe and Odio with 4 bridges in Onna and Eket Local Government Areas, with a plea to the people of the areas to accord the contractor handling the project maximum support so as to ensure delivery on schedule.

However, the road which is expected to be 9.0km dual carriage, 6.1km single lane with enough space, will be handled by VKS construction Company Limited.

The governor who was welcomed by a mammoth crowd into the community with fanfair, thanked the people for their unflinching support to his government, however, promised to continue to do his best with the divine mandate Akwa Ibom people gave to him less than 2 years ago.

Governor Emmanuel who was represented by the Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang, explained that embarking on rural road construction by the current administration was born out of the commitment of the Udom Emmanuel led government to improve the socio-economic status of the entire citizenry of the state.

He reaffirmed the governor’s determination to sustain Superior performance in Akwa Ibom and as well take the state to greater height.
While urging the people to continue closing ranks to build the Akwa Ibom of their collective dreams, Akparawa Inyang, assured that Governor Udom Emmanuel will continue to impact positively on the lives of all and sundry in the State.

Meanwhile, representative of the elders, youth and women, who spoke at the flagging off ceremony, described the road as a twain that will bind and unite the people of the two areas, thanked the governor for his pragmatism in ensuring that he brings back life to the once abandoned communities.

They prayed for wisdom, strength and God’s provision of resources to enable the governor fulfil all his lofty dreams for the transformation of the Akwa Ibom to a more prosperous destination.

Earlier, the Commissioner was in Oruk Anam Local Government Area to re-award the construction of 23.25km Ikot Ekaide – Ikot Okoro – Ikot Ibritam road to Wizchino Engineering Ltd.

It will be recalled that the road was first awarded to Ashdene Limited but the contract was revoked by the State government, last week, following the inability of the construction firm to commence work nine months after the contract was awarded.

In an enlarged meeting with the monarchs, youth leaders and political leaders of Oruk Anam, the Commissioner, stressed that Governor Emmanuel will not rest until he fulfils all his campaign promises to the people and solicited continued support to the State’s Chief Executive.
