A member of the Governing Board of the Ibom international airport, Rt. Hon. Barr. Usenobong Akpabio has risen in defence of the President of Bush House Group, Akparawa Michael Bush, stating that, he(Bush) never left the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Barr. Akpabio who was a two time member representing Uruan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, and who contested the PDP primaries twice against Bush, dropped the hint during an interaction with newsmen on the upcoming event of Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Uruan Sports Ground where Akparawa Bush will renew his vows with the PDP
publicly.
The former lawmaker said, although Bush was a foremost supporter of erstwhile APC governorship candidate in the State, Mr Umana Okon Umana, that was when the latter was still a member of the PDP, and Bush never defected with him. Barr. Akpabio says Bush is a principled person who is not known for inconsistency and wondered where all the insinuation and rumours were coming from.
On the 2019 elections, Barr. Akpabio said there is no vacancy in the Hilltop mansion as Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel will be supported by Uyo Senatorial District to complete the full term of Eket Senatorial District, not only for the sake of equity and his excellent performance so far with the lean resources at his disposal, but because Uyo will want to have its turn by 2023.
Barr. Akpabio affirmed the argument earlier canvassed by Michael Bush that, if by any error or happenstance, another person from Eket Senatorial District becomes governor, Uyo Senatorial District will have to wait for 20 years before another power shift to the district as such a governor will seek to run a full term of 8 years. Barr. Akpabio therefore called on all stakeholders, friends and associates of Michael Bush and PDP faithful to turn out on the 9th of January for the grand event.
On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman of Uruan, Dr Edwin Okon, described the public declaration event as a welcome development, maintaining that, the ace broadcaster with his fame as a grassroot mobilizer and popular media personality is a value added to the PDP. Dr Okon said, they were eager to work closely with Bush to reposition the party in Uruan and drum more support for Governor Emmanuel, who he said is the best for Akwa Ibom now and beyond 2019.
The Council Chair enumerated the dividends of democracy Governor Emmanuel has brought to Uruan nation to include the Hatchery at Mbiaya Uruan, the Anua, Mbak Isshiet road which is currently under construction, the cattle ranch which will soon take off and the Nduetong road, and several political appointments that have accrued to the area.
He said everything has been put in place for the event and charged the people to show love for their illustrious son.
Speaking earlier, Michael Bush said he is determined to help rebuild, rejig, rebrand and reinforce the PDP from his ward, chapter, state and to the national level and ensure the party regains its pride of place. While reiterating that, he had never held an APC membership card, attended any APC meeting nor ever defected from the PDP, he deemed it worthwhile to publicly renew, what he termed, his PDP vow to douse the lingering rumour that he had left the PDP.
Bush who pledged support for Governor Emmanuel's re-election come 2019 said, his hand is on the deck and he will work very hard and honestly to help restore the fortune of the party at all levels, stressing that, he will be preoccupied with generating ideas to making PDP attractive again and ultimately helping the Party rise again to her full potential.
