Mbo Paramount Ruler-Elect urges subjects to embrace dialogue

-says he is a father of all

The Paramount Ruler-Elect of Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, His Royal Majesty, Ovong Edet Okon Isemin has advised all sons and daughters of Mbo to embrace dialogue at all times and stop planning war, noting that war destroys both human and material resources.

Ovong Isemin who gave the charge while interacting with newsmen shortly after his emergence as the Paramount Ruler of Mbo at the election conducted at the Chambers of the State Council of Chiefs, Government House, Uyo, stressed that there is no problems, disputes and misunderstanding that cannot be amicably resolved through dialogue.

The monarch advised Mbo people to desist from war, saying that such tendencies would not bring development to Mbo rather it would sow a seed of discord among the people.

He promised to ensure that peace reigns in his domains and sued for the collaboration and support of all indigenes as well as residents of Mbo, adding that Mbo people should maintain the aged long bond of unity and brotherhood in the area.

Ovong Isemin, who is also the Chairman, Council of Oro Traditional Rulers, (COTR), called on all indigenes of Mbo to forget the past and come together for the social and economic development of the people.

The former Parliamentarian said, " l am appealing to all sons and daughters of Mbo to come together for the common goals of developing Mbo. They should forget about war. War brings destruction both human and material resources and at the end,  they would be reconciled but those lost, you cannot recovered. So, I don't believe in war. I believe in dialogue.If there is any misunderstanding, they should come and let's sit down and dialogue and God would shows us and direct us the way to get out of it.There is no problems that cannot be amicably resolved through dialogue. So, let all Mbo people come together. They should forget about the past and thinks seriously how to develop Mbo ".

On his emergence, he said, " I feel very very happy and I thank Almighty God who has made it possible for me to be elected as the Paramount Ruler of Mbo. So, all glory goes to God".

To those who were not in support of him, he said, "Well it is normal that such people do exist. After the battle and my emergence, so they have to come so that together we can build a greater Mbo. Everybody is welcome. Whether you were with me or not, now that I am a father of all, everybody is welcome. I don't discriminate. I have never discriminated and I will not discriminate".

Describing his emergence as God's making, the monarch commended the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for providing a level playing field for the election .

He thanked the State Council of Chiefs for providing all democratic procedures for the election.

Ovong Isemin, himself the Clan Head of Ukwong, said having been aware of the problems confronting his people that he would depend solely on the counsel of God in addressing the challenges.

He prayed for God's wisdom to enable him administer justice in a fair and transparent manner to all his subjects.
