It was a confirmation of promise as well as recognition of excellence as political gladiators from Ibesikpo Asutan under the aegis IBESIKPO ASUTAN POLITICAL STAKEHOLDERS gathered at the Farm House of Prince Uwem Ita Etuk, the political leader of Ibesikpo Asutan to affirm the political leadership of Prince Uwem Ita Etuk as well as adopt Udom Emmanuel for 2019 as Governor.
Breaking the silence at the political convoke, the Political Leader Prince Uwem Ita Etuk thanked the party for the peaceful co-existence being experienced as well as their loyalty to the party under the able leadership of Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.
Prince Uwem Ita Etuk used the opportunity to officially present Mr.Nsikan Linus Nkan as the Commissioner from the area who has found favour in the eyes of the governor to be appointed into the State Executive Council and urged the stakeholders and the people of Ibesikpo Asutan to support him with their prayers to succeed.
Speaking also at the meeting, the member representing the area in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Rt.Hon.(Elder) Aniekan Uko while congratulating Mr.Nsikan Linus Nkan on his new appointment thanked him for identifying with the existing political structure in the area devoid of any sentiment.
"I want to to vehemently thank His Excellency, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for the choice of our son, Mr. Nsikan Linus Nkan as the State Finance Commissioner.
Mr. Nkan is a nice gentleman with pragmatic disposition which I so much believe will not bring shame to our Local Government in the discharge of his duties to the state" he assured.
The Ibesikpo Asutan mouthpiece in the Assembly, used the opportunity to urge the new commissioner not to relent in discharging his duties well and assured him of the prayers of the entire people of his Constituency for him to succeed.
"My prayer and our prayer for you, is for you to discharge your duties well in the state and to be the longest serving commissioner in the State Exco.To you all seated here, Ibesikpo Asutan has two clans, Asutan and Ibesikpo and that is why we are always particular about zoning so that each clan will have a fair share in representation" Uko maintained.
Also speaking at the convoke, a major stakeholder in Ibesikpo Asutan politics, Obong Donatus Noah(a.k.a Obong Iberedem Ekpe) thanked Prince Uwem Ita Etuk for not disappointing the area since his elevation to the political leadership of the area.
Hear him "Uwem Ita Etuk is a leader worthy of emulation. Uwem have not disappointed Ibesikpo Asutan since he became the political leader. He is always the last man standing in Ibesikpo Asutan to make sure PDP wins in every election "
The Council Transition Committee Chairman, Barr. Ukanaisong Udofia in his speech congratulated the new commissioner and pleaded with political class in the area to shun politics of propaganda which for him will only fan discord and acrimony.
Elder Okon Edet Offiong, the PDP Chapter Chairman on his part sued for peace as the only tonic that will align the local government bloc to greatness.
Responding, the elated commissioner for Finance, Mr. Nsikan Linus Nkan says he was humbled by the political bond existing in Ibesikpo Asutan.
"Since I came in as commissioner, I have closely followed the political structure of Ibesikpo Asutan led by Prince Uwem Ita Etuk and by my assessment, it is the best found anywhere and I want us all to cue behind his leadership" he affirmed.
Mr. Nkan used the opportunity to advised the people on the need for peaceful co- existence maintaining that, that is the atmosphere he likes operating in.
While thanking the political leader and the stakeholders for their show of love,the finance guru used the opportunity to thank Elder Aniekan Uko for his superlative representation in the 6th assembly considering his timely motions and bills which have bearing on the lives of the people as well as his positive contributions in the floor of the house which to him have really made the stakeholders beat their chest for having a sound representative.
High point of the stakeholders summit was a four(4)point position/resolution which included:
1.The political stakeholders in Ibesikpo Asutan do adopt Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for a second term come 2019.
2.The political Leader of Ibesikpo Asutan remains Prince Uwem Ita Etuk.
3.The position of the Local Government Chairman for Ibesikpo Asutan come next local government election, is zoned to Asutan Ward 3.
4.The stakeholders convey their thanks to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for appointing Mr. Nsikan Linus Nkan and Elder Effiong Essien as Honourable Commissioner for Finance and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works respectively and assured the governor that with Nsikan Nkan, the state treasury is safe.
The meeting was attended by the political leader of Ibesikpo Asutan Prince Uwem Ita Etuk, the Assembly member for the area, Elder Aniekan Uko, the Transition Committee Chairman, Barr. Ukanaisong Udofia, the PDP Chapter Chairman Elder Okon Edet Offiong, Professor Lawrence Etim, Professor Effiong Etuk, ward and chapter officers, ward leaders and other party hierarchy.
