GOV. OKOWA FLAGS OFF THE DIRECTORATE OF ORIENTATION'S YOUTHS PROGRAM TODAY

The Program kicked off with the Introduction of  Dignitaries to the High Table and recognition of others present after which the National Anthem was taken. The Opening Prayer was taken by the Principal of Ibusa Girls Secondary school.

In taking the Welcome Address, Hon. Innocent Esewezie briefly admonished the students to shun Cultism. In his words,"Young minds are like sponges" and as such they should guard their minds jealously.

The Chairman of the Program, ably represented took the rostrum to take the Opening Remarks. He didn't waste time in saying that the focus of the event was on the Youths ie Secondary and Primary students. He reiterated the fact that Cultism exists in the secular society  but that it is EVIL and it is causing retrogression of our society. He made mention of the fact that such a program was long overdue and thanked the Convener, Hon. Esewezie explicitly. He advised the inclusion of sporting activities into the school calendar saying that these would keep the students more engaged. He ended by saying, "We can't afford to lose the war against Cultism".

In his Keynote Address,  Barr. Eugene Uzum, the Executive Assistant to Gov Okowa in the Directorate said that Hon. Esewezie should be applauded for setting the ball rolling in this New Era in the emancipation of our children. He advised the students to embrace positive lifestyle and even went ahead to name several dignitaries from different works of life who achieved excellence and greatness without succumbing to cultism.
There was a brief break during which a Jingle on Cultism, powered by Hon. Innocent Esewezie, was shown on a Projector. The visual display showed pictures and gruesome murders clips of cultists. The aim of this  projection was to intimate the students on the eventual outcome of involving in cult activities.

His Excellency, Sen. (Dr) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, ably represented flagged of the program. This thereafter paved way for the commencement of the Interactive Session between the Discussants and the students

The representative of the Commissioner of Police took the first Lecture titled, "CULTISM AND THE NIGERIAN CHILD". He spoke at length about the ills of engaging in cult activities and it consequences. He also made mention that one is addressed by his/her addressing and as such students should endeavor to be properly dressed at all times. He pointed out that failure on the part of the family, church and society is a reflection of Societal failure. Finally, he advised the students to always remember the child of whom they are in all endeavors of their lives.

The second Lecture, "The Twin Problem of Drug and Cultism" was presented by representative of the NDLEA and he emphasized the negative effects and consequences of getting involved in drug abuse.

The Member Representing Oshimili North in the House of Assembly and also the Chief Whip to the House, in the person of Hon. Barr. Princess Evang. Pat Ajudua presented the Anti-Cultism and Anti-Terrorism Law that was recently signed into Law by Gov. Okowa. She admonished the students to take upon themselves Role Models who are great achievers in the society  that did not engage in cult activities.

OUR very own son, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, SSA to Gov and Delta North Representative in the Directorate took the third lecture in which he presented a Paper titled, " MENACE OF CULTISM". He thereafter interacted with the students by asking them questions.  Several students also come out to share their take home points concerning the program. Hon. Esewezie encouraged the students to be bold and report any form of intimidation from cultists to the relevant authorities. He advised them NEVER to bow to threats and intimidations from cultists and told them that help is just a phone call away. The following phone numbers, Head of Anti-Cult (07039666924), DPO Ibusa Police (08032266785) and ICP (07035768506) were given and they were told to give ONLY correct information.

Hon. Innocent Esewezie inaugurated the AMBASSADORS OF  CULT-FREE AWARENESS CLUB in various Schools across Oshimili North LGA and advised interested students to get a copy of the Form from their School Principals.

Our Royal Father, The Obuzor of Igbuzor, HRM Prof. (Obi) L.C. Nwaoboshi thanked the Convener of the Program. He also thanked the gallant men of the  Anti-Cult Unit for their recent help in ensuring sanity was restored to his Domain. He made it clear that the community will NOT relax and ANY parent who comes pleading when his/her child is arrested on account of cultism will have his/her life in jeopardy. He also said that any fame got via cultism is Non-enduring. He ended by advising them to "change their focus and start positive thinking".

A student from Illah Secondary School took the Vote of Thanks and Elder Odogwu said the Closing Prayer.
Thereafter, group photographs were taken by dignitaries.
