The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyangeyen has expressed his desire to work closely with his counterpart in the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Uduak Charles Udoinyang to ensure a transparent exercise in relocating the Poultry that has been affected by the ongoing construction of the 39.4km Etinan-Ndon Eyo Road.
Commissioner Inyangeyen who conducted Dr Udoinyang and other officials of the Ministry of Agriculture to the Poultry, said he wanted to have the Agric Commissioner see things for himself for a transparent compensation for the structure and its subsequent relocation.
The works Commissioner stated that, he did not want any arbitrary action or interfere in an area where he had no jurisdiction over, hence the need to
reach the officials in charge of the Ministry that runs the poultry scheme which is a demonstration outlet to train poultry farmers.
Another facility of the Ministry of Agriculture that was referred to the Commissioner in charge of the Ministry is the abandoned rice silo, warehouse and several containers at Ikot Ebidang in Onna Local Government Area.
Commissioner Inyangeyen intimated
Dr Udoinyang that, the containers are to be relocated to make way for the Construction of Ikot Ebekpo - Ikot Ebidang Road, that stretches to the beach in Onna Local Government.
The Works Commissioner revealed that, a Chinese firm that wants to build a ceramics factory at Ikot Ebidang where there is a large deposit of clay. He further added that, the investors were waiting for access road to the site, which is what the state Government is making haste to provide for the factory to take off in earnest. Commissioner inyangeyen also disclosed plans to build a jetty by the beach which empties its waters into Qua River.
On his part, Dr Udoinyang thanked Mr Inyangeyen for being proactive and thoughtful in consulting his ministry on the challenges encountered with the structures. The Agric Commissioner assured that, his ministry will act quickly to make the necessary amends in relocating the poultry and the containers to give way for the roads, but appreciated the preservation of the rice silo and warehouse which he said are top grade.
He also commended Inyangeyen for his hardwork and above all, the honest way he is running the affairs of the works Ministry and pledged continued cooperation, when and where necessary with the Ministry of works for the good of the state.
