EMPOWERMENT : Udom's Aide Lauds Positive Transformation Skills Graduates


Friday February 17, 2017 was special to the people of Ikot Ekpene Udo in Nsit Ubium local government area of Akwa Ibom State, as it witnessed the first graduation ceremony of the Positive Transformation Skill Acquisition training programme initiated by Engr. Samuel Ekwere.

The 55 beneficiaries graduated in Computer Operations, Catering, Photography, Bead and Hat Making, Cosmetology, Ankara Fashion, Shoe Manufacturing and Agro Allied productions.

Chairman on the occasion and Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Essien Ndueso said he was impressed with the young people who had keyed into the Dakkada clarion call by Governor Udom Emmanuel by discovering their potentials and utilizing their skills in craftsmanship.

Mr Ndueso commended the initiator of the scheme, Engr Samuel Ekwere for the innovation, and enjoined other well placed Akwa Ibom people to institute such skills empowerment schemes and arm youths for Governor Emmanuel’s impending industrial boom.

He urged youths to always shun vices and embrace education and skills development, maintaining that Governor Udom Emmanuel was more interested in providing enablers that will help entrepreneurs to grow their businesses in the state.

The senior special assistant to the Governor Mrs Abasiodiong Majorie, the representative of the Speaker of the state house of Assembly, and the special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroot Re-Orinetation Mr Joseph Okon all commended the participants and pledged to support their programmes.

The initiator of the programme, Engr. Samuel Ekwere said the programme was  created to alleviate poverty and transform people's lives in line with the Dakkada ideal of the Udom Emmanuel led administration in the state.

He said the programme was self sponsored to get people off the streets and enhance their capacity to fit into the productive economic sector of the society.

It was particularly interesting to note that the Agro Allied graduates produced fish and poultry feeds, as well as anti-coccidiosis drugs for the farmers which they exhibited.

Other products on display where the cosmetics like shampoo,liquid soap, air freshner, body spray, shoes, handbags, cookies, and graphic designs.
