Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has acknowledged the complementary role of Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) towards the state's development.
Governor Emmanuel made the acknowledgment during a Courtesy call on him by Ima Bridge Africa, a United States Of America based Non Governmental Organisation at Government House, Uyo.
He lauded the Organisation for the various intervention programmes and donations to schools and health institutions across the state noting that his administration will continue to welcome more development partners to strengthen the development agenda of his administration.
Governor Emmanuel announced that about 25 containers of medical equipment is expected in the state from America to upgrade hospitals and improve healthcare services.
According to him "some of the hospitals are undergoing renovations and some personnel have been trained to handle the facilities for optimum performance even as efforts have been put in place to enhance water sanitation by reticulatng water sources especially in the rural areas to stem the tide of water borne diseases."
He expressed appreciation to the Ima Bridge Team for donating towards the welfare of the victims of the Reigners Bible Church tragedy.
Earlier the Co-ordinator, Ima Bridge Africa Team, Rev.fr Godwin Nsikak Ubom said that the Organisation started eight years ago in Chicago and has visited the state 13th times on medical outreach in the three Senatorial Districts as well as offer scholarshp to 32 indigent students in tertiary Institutions .
Father Ubom thanked the state administration for the opportunity given them to partner the state in its development effort and used the occasion to condole the Government and people of the state over the December 10th tragic incident.
The Team presented a One million Naira cheque to assist in the treatmnt of the casualties of the Reigners church building collapse.
