AKWA IBOM STATE GOV'T TO COMPLETE IBOM TROPICANA

The Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Special Duties, Akwa Ibom State, Mr Akan Okon has reiterated the resolve of the State government, led by Governor Udom Emmanuel, to completing projects taken over from the previous administration.

The Commissioner stated this, shortly, after an inspection tour of the Ibom Tropicana Entertainment Centre, Uyo, Yesterday.

Speaking further, Mr Okon said the essence of the inspection was to afford him an on-the-spot assessment of progress of work at the facility, with a view to collaborating with relevant agencies, to ensure its full completion.

He harped on the economic potentials of the project and said his Ministry would soon negotiate with relevant contractors, in a bid to ensure the project is completed.

"I am amazed with what I've seen here today at the Thames  park that we have this type of facility, which has not been put to use. But I believe this place can be put to use by Easter time, because we intend to have a meeting with all the relevant contractors", the Commissioner maintained.

Also speaking, the member representing Ini State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, and Chairman, House Committee on Special Duties, Hon. Emmanuel Bassey, expressed delight at the nature of the project .

Present at inspection were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Special Duties, Dr Valerie Obot, Special Assistant to the Governor on Entertainment, Mr. David Sergeant, his Social Reorientation counterpart, Mr Ekpeno Gold, and Godfada Uko, Special Assistant on Project Monitoring Mr. Udeme Etukeyen SA Project Monitoring .

Facilities inspected include the Thames Park, Cinema and the Hotel Complex.
