AKWA IBOM GOVT INCHES CLOSER TO OIL & GAS FREE ZONE

Akwa Ibom State Government has reiterated its commitment to the actualization of the Oil and Gas Free zone in the state. 

The Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industries, Prof Eno Ikpe gave the assurance after the Inaugural Meeting of the joint Technical Committee, comprising representatives of the Akwa Ibom State Government and the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) in Onne,  Rivers State.

Prof Ikpe noted that Governor Udom Emmanuel is very passionate about bringing to fruition the dreams of the free zone that will boost investments and create wealth for the people of the state. 

She thanked OGFZA for the good disposition in working to realise the collective objective and pledged the state government's readiness to do all its can to make it a success.

Technical Assistant,  Obong Iniobong Jackson expressed happiness at the success of the inaugural meeting and looked forward greater partnership for results.

"It was nice hosting the Inaugural Meeting of the joint Technical Committee in Onne. I hope you enjoyed the facility tour and look forward to establishing a bigger and more comprehensive Oil and Gas Free Zone in Akwa Ibom State. The Management of Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority is committed to supporting the venture"

The Akwa Ibom State Government penultimate Thursday set up a six member Joint Committee on the implementation of Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone .

The Committee has Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, Professor Eno Ikpe, Chairman Technical Committee on Foreign Direct Investment, Mr Gabriel Ukpe and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Technical Matters and Due process, Elder Ufot Ebong as members on the part of Government while the Oil and Gas Free Trade Zone was represented by the Head of Legal Services, Barrister Sule Wasiu, Head of Operations Mr Adekunle Ajayi and Head of Trade And Investment Adamu Kontagara.

The Committee was established following a meeting between the Managing Director Oil And Gas Free Zones Authority Mr Umana Okon Umana and Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel at Government House, Uyo.

Present at the inaugural meeting were Prof Eno Ikpe, Commissioner, Investment, Commerce and Industry,  Akwa Ibom State, Dr Gabriel Ukpe, Chairman, Technical Committee on Foreign Direct Investment, Akwa Ibom State,  Elder Ufot Ebong,  Senior Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Technical Matters and Due Process, Mr Aniekeme Finbarr, SA to the Akwa Ibom State Governor,  Media

Also,  present were Barr Abdulwasiu Sule, Head of Legal Department,  OGFZA,  Mr Adamu Kontogora, Head of Trade and Investments, OGFZA, Mr Adekunle Ajayi,  Head of Operations,  OGFZA, Obong Iniobong Jackson, technical Assistant, OGFZA.
