Against the backdrop of rumours making the round that the owner of a popular restaurant at Aka road, Eka Udo allegedly made some confession where the rumour mill claimed that she has been using water from the mortuary to prepare food for her teeming customers, I personally undertook a visit to her eatery joint this morning to verify the claim.
When I arrived, I met two of her staff, a boy and a girl who were seen cleaning the place , told me that they had close for the year, and that the restaurant will reopen on Monday 9th of January, 2017.
They dismissed the confession rumour peddled in some quarters against their mistress as lies. The staff said “We have not heard such. That is not true. We have closed for the year. We went on break on the evening 23rd of December after selling: we are resuming on the 9th of January next year, 2017”.
Some neighbours living in compound who spoke with me wondered why people take delight in raising false alarm when there is no cause for such.
“Eka Udo has been sick for about 2 months now, and she is being attended to medically at an undisclosed location”. We pray that she gets well soon, so that she would return to her business “, said one of the tenants residing in the compound.
Another source who choosed to remain anonymous, however said they may have been some element of truth in the said rumour. A crowd of members of the public were seen gathering across the road in groups discussing the matter.
