Peace Corp of Nigeria has warned the public to be wary of those who parade themselves as Nigeria Peace Corp in their bid to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public with a promise to offer them employment opportunity in the Corp.
The warning was issued recently at a press briefing in Uyo by the state commandant of the parliamentary organisation, F/Lt Aniefiok Effiong.
The State commandant said that these impersonators who sell their forms for one hundred and fifty thousand naira(150,000) and above are not working for the Corp and should be treated as criminals.
While stressing that anyone who deals with them does so at his/her risk, he noted that the only authentic form(s) on sale can only be obtained at the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Command, 12 Udo Eduok Street, Uyo at the cost of One Thousand Five Hundred Naira (1,500) only and the training fee is forty thousand naira (40,000) only.
The State Commandant offered insight to fact that the authentic Peace Corps is led by a National Commandant, Amb (Dr) Dickson A. O. Akoh, while the state is headed by F/Lt Aniefiok Effiong.
"It is worthy to note that the real Nigeria Peace Corps bill established by the act of Parliament of 24th November 2016 and 9th July 2016 is headed by the National Commandant, Amb. (Dr ) Dickson A. O. Akoh, FCITr, FCPA and in the state by F/Lt Aniefiok Effiong".
He also explained that Peace Corps has been established for about eighteen (18) years and that the organization has impacted positively on the people of Akwa Ibom state including a visit to the Band of Hope Motherless Babies Home, Eket and also provided succor to the widows and less privilege in few church across the State.
He wished the people of the State and Nigeria a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
