ITA AWAK: SHOULD DEATH NOT ATTRACT SYMPATHY?

Our attention has been drawn to the very ignoble activities of the publicity secretary of the All Progressive Congress Akwa Ibom State, Mr Ita Awak since the occurrence of the very sorrowful incidence of the collapse of the Reigners Bible Church.

First he took to social media particularly a WhatsApp group called Ibom Telegraph to offer an analysis of 'how the doomed roof of a pastorpreneur' collapsed and thereafter displayed numerous gory pictures of the victims. We would have ignored this in the belief that the author was ignorant.

But can anybody truly believe that a former Commissioner for Information would not know that sharing such pictures may be injurious to the senses of some people? a grave disrespect to the dead and a  traumatising injection to their relatives who may not have heard of the sorrowful event.

As if that was not enough, 24 hours after the painful event, the said man issued a scorn filled message on behalf of his party, purporting to condole with the victims but obviously seeking to score cheap political gains by being judgemental on the cause of the incident and attempting to use the event to preach the APC change agenda. The poser for Mr. Awak is, if your relative was involved would you have posted a picture of the person lying dead?

We are deeply troubled by this very inhuman disposition expressed by a man who OUGHT to know more, considering his advanced age and the concomitant maturity that should ordinarily follow. But since we live in very interesting times, filled with incredible characters,we are totally in shock.

We will like to plead that nobody should seek to use this sad event to score any political point. We must sympathise with humanity because it's ranks have been depleted via a very tragic source.
The least we can do for the bereaved family is to show sympathy to the families of the departed and remember them in our prayers.
May God continue to help us.
