In the spirit of the season, the wife of Akwa Ibom state Governor Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel today hosted a cross section of Akwa Ibom children to a Christmas party.
At the event which took place at the banquet hall ground of the Government House Uyo, saw the children contesting in various activities such as dancing competition, chair dance and lots more.
Addressing the children, the First lady said Christmas is celebrated world over by Christians to mark the birth of the savior Jesus Christ ,noting that His birth signifies salvation for mankind.
While thanking God for the safety of the children and their parents year long, she also admonished them to be of good conduct by being obedient to their parents and God, adding that with these attributes, their future is bright.
In her words “Don’t play with your studies; education is key to a successful future. Be careful with the friends you keep, study hard so you can become great in future and above all honour your parents and fear God.” She said.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Glory Edet enjoined the children to remain loyal and obedient to their parents and guardians’ pointing out that Christmas is the time to show love to one another.
She appreciated Governor Udom Emmanuel and wife Martha, for running an all-inclusive government, adding that the future of every Akwa Ibom child is bright.
Highpoint of the event was the cutting of the Christmas cake by the governor’s wife, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel in company of a cross section of the Children.
