The Special Adviser to Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State on Political and Legislative Affairs, Rt. Hon (Barr) Ekong Sampson has commended the governor for his belief in an all-inclusive governance, as evident in his sincere efforts in opening up the routes of government to accommodate all well-meaning individuals and groups, while assuring that with this approach, the state is guaranteed a faster drive of government policies and programmes.
Barr Sampson made the commendation last week in Uyo while fielding questions from journalists who paid him a visit in his office.
Responding to a question on how much the current administration has been relating with leaders of past administrations in the state, the governor's adviser noted that Governor Udom Emmanuel and his led government is enjoying a very cordial relationship with past heads of government in the state whose advices and contributions are very essential in fueling the speedy drive of governance.
He stressed that since government is believed to be a continuum, it will be a contradiction to such belief if the opinions and contributions of leaders to the business of governance are being ignored, adding that no government that believes in continuity would operate without considering certain useful policies of previous administrations.
While stressing the need for the current government of the state to build an effective link that will connect past governors to its agenda and operations, Barr Sampson particularly recommended that heads of past governments should be given advisory roles in the current and future governance.
The former lawmaker based his reason on the fact that those governments had very progress-aimed policies in terms of infrastructural development, economic independence, etc, and which they also had strategies towards achieving them. He added that though they may not have recorded a perfect achievement, their ideas and experiences will definitely help in driving home same or similar policies.
He said that being the initial bearer of this visions, their advices will be a key guide in the course of turning the vision into reality, especially in the state's quest for economic independence which the current administration seeks to achieve through its industrialization agenda.
