Over 1,000 widows and indigent women from ONNA Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, have benefitted from the goodwill of the wife of Commissioner for Works; Mrs Ime Ephraim Inyang.
On Saturday, 24th December, the Commissioner's wife and husband, donated food items, wrappers and money to Onna Women so that they could celebrate the Christmas and New year.
Speaking during the presentation of the items at her abode in Onna, Mrs Ime Inyang, who is also the Coordinator of Family Empowerment and Youth Reorienration Programme (FEYReP), the pet project of the State's first lady; Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel, noted that the initiative was aimed at touching the lives of women in the entire Local Government Area.
Mrs Inyang who observed that Onna Women are peaceful, home builders and the backbone of the area called on them to pray for the State governor; Mr Udom Emmanuel and wife; Deaconess Marth Emmanuel.
She specifically urged them to inculcate good moral behaviours in their children for the betterment of the society.
Akwa Obonganwan Akpabio Udo Ukpa, in an earlier remark, noted that the gesture from the Commissioner and wife was not new to them as they have been consistently empowering the people of Onna.
"Our Commissioner; Akparawa Epgraim Inyang and his amiable wife; Mrs Ime Inyang, have sympathy for our people, especially widows, orphans and indigent women... On behalf of Onna women, I want to thank them for this great show of love", Akwa obonganwan Ukpa said.
One of the beneficiaries, Madam Akon Edem, a widow, said the family of the Commissioner has always been of help in times of need for Onna people and prayed God to sustain them with robust health nd long life.
Prayers were offered to God to guide and protect the governor of the State his wife, the three arms of government and entire good people of Akwa Ibom.
