It is no longer news that the University Of Uyo community over time now has been facing of issues of security challenges, stealing and forceful take away of students properties by some group of unknown recalcitrant animals suspected to be cultists.
In the move to restore peace and security to the campuses, the University has commenced intensive security checks in night classes to identify such unscrupulous elements.
Security operatives of the University last night stormed different lecture halls in the University with a surveillance team requesting for student's identity cards as a means of identifying real students, there were threats of sending students without identity card out of the campus at around 12 midnight when the search was conducted.
The security operatives urge students coming for night class to come with their student ID cards as students without ID will not be allow in to night classes hence forth.
A student of the institution who spoke with Dakkada Ibom Youths identify the gesture as a step in the right direction targeted towards restoration of security in the students community, but however noted that students were not inform of the new policy.
Other students called on the management of the University and the Student Union Government to make information on the new policy of security checks on night class available to abreast students on the new development.
