NUPENG, Petroleum Tankers Drivers called off strike

Following a strike embarked upon by the Petroleum Tankers Drivers Union PTD in Akwa Ibom State the union has decided called off its five days strike.

Normal supply of petroleum products in Akwa Ibom state will resume immediately.

In a communique signed by Comrades Bassey and Canaan of NUPENG, and Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps which was also endorsed by SSA to the Governor on Petroleum Matters, Barr Essien Esema, the parties agreed to withdraw all cases in courts and ensure steady supply forthwith.

It will be recalled that  following a misunderstanding  between the tanker drivers and civil defence, supply of petroleum products to Akwa Ibom State was ceased leading to scarcity and hardship to Akwa Ibom residents.
