The member representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency in the  Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Usoro Akpanusoh has charged Students in the state to avoid keeping bad companies but should rather strive  to excel in their academic pursuit.

Hon.  Akpanusoh, who gave  the charge on Wednesday during a courtesy call on him by the Student Union Government, University of Uyo, said that the most reasons some students cannot complete their academic pursuit are due to the kind of people they keep as friends.

"As students, you need to be extremely careful on the kind of friends you choose to keep because in this stage of your life, you have to create positive foundation that will inspire you to be a better  person in future".

The lawmaker, who is also the chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, noted that for any one to be a good leader tomorrow, such a person must serve someone that will mould and mentor him or her positively while urging them to be steadfast in God at all times.

In response, the SUG President, Comrade Kufre Samuel thanked the lawmaker for the  fatherly advice and promised that the students would always adhere to it at all times.

Comrade Samuel commended the lawmaker for his tremendous support and contributions to the student's community and prayed God's continuous grace and strength for him to continue his good works.

The SUG President also solicited for more partnership from the astute lawmaker ahead of their pet project tagged, "Bring Them Young" as it would help inspire and  encourage students to be focused in their academics.

He further applauded Governor Udom Emmanuel   for his giant strides he has recorded in the education sector.

In attendance were the student Union Executive led by the president.
