About a week ago, Finbarr junior, a student of FUTO was celebrated for venturing into the unknown area of tricycle (Keke) assembly and today, I stumble again on this air powered vehicle being currently assembled by another Akwa Ibom State son, Martins Joseph, an indigene of Nkara Obio Ikono in Ikono Local Government Area and a product of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba.
According to Wikipedia, a compressed-air vehicle (CAV) is powered by an air engine, using compressed air, which is stored in a tank. Instead of mixing fuel with air and burning it in the engine to drive pistons with hot expanding gases, compressed-air vehicles use the expansion of compressed air to drive their pistons. One manufacturer claims to have designed an engine that is 90 percent efficient.
Compressed-air propulsion may also be incorporated in hybrid systems, such as with battery electric propulsion. This kind of system is called a hybrid-pneumatic electric propulsion. Additionally, regenerative braking can also be used in conjunction with this system.
I believe with more exposure, moral and financial support, these men can create a new name for Akwa Ibom State in particular and Nigeria at general. This is the spirit of Dakkada and I enjoin the Government, corporate and well placed individuals to encourage these young men of our dear State in their chosen fields.
