The Oro Traditional Rulers Council has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Udom Emmanuel for the various developmental strides he has done in the area.
Moving the motion, the Paramount Ruler of Oron, HRM Offong Odiong Akan said, "Governor Udom Emmanuel has done so much for Oro nation since he assumed office. He has dualised some of the roads that were not passable and he had awarded contract for the construction of road from Nsit Atai to Uyai Oro"
"we will issue a communique on this, because he has done more for us than he has done in other local government areas, he should be recommended".
According to HRH, Chief Francis Eyo, Clan Head of Afaha Okpo who seconded the motion, "Udom has so much to offer not in Akwa Ibom only but Nigeria in general, he is a man of integrity, he has vision ".

Also supporting the motion, all the 19 clan heads, Paramount rulers and 167 village heads that make up Oro Nation in their unison assured the governor of their support throughout his 8 years tenure.
"Obong Victor Attah did 8 years, Sen. Akpabio did 8 years, we will support him to complete his 8 years".
Earlier in his speech, the convener of the meeting and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt. Hon Victor Antai, said the essence of the meeting was to informed them of the Governor's intention and readiness to transform Oro nation and what he has been able to do in the last one year, stressing that "the State Government is negotiating with Rock Marine to carry out ferry service between Oro and Calabar"

Continuing, he noted that since the Governor assume office he has devoted his time to make sure Oro is developed, maintaining that "Oro means a lot to the Governor".
Also speaking, the Chairman Akwa Ibom State Council of Chief and Paramount Ruler of Ibeno, HRM Edidem Dr Effiong Achianga, said "Oro nation is one of the oldest local government in the country but has been neglected by previous governments, Oro deserved to be recognized".
He noted that Oro deserve all that the Governor has done for them and maintained that "it is their right"
He also used the opportunity to advised youth in the area to shun violence, militancy and social vices that can hinder development in the area.
Continuing, the Royal Monarch, said he was there at the meeting as the head of all traditional institutions in the state, stressing that he was not there for campaign. "I'm not a politician and cannot be, but since my 'children' has decided to pass a vote of confidence on the Governor, I recommend them".
The meeting which was for traditional rulers witnessed a turnaround when members of Professional Motorcycle Riders Association, popularly called Okada troop in their numbers to also pass vote of confidence on the Governor, saying that because of the roads dualised by the present administration, they spent less in repairing their motorcycle unlike before they use to spend more because of bad roads.

They also thanked the Governor for having Oro in his developmental programmes and promised to give the Governor the necessary support he need to succeed and unanimously adopted the Governor for second term.
The event had in attendance the Chairman Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs and Paramount Ruler of Ibeno Local Government, HRM (Owong) Effiong Bassey Achianaga, Paramount Ruler of Urue Offong Oruko Local Government, HRM Offong (Engr.) E. R. Amasi, Paramount Ruler of Oron Local Government, HRM Offong Odiong Akan, others were Chairman Council of Oro Traditional Rulers, His Highness Ovong (Hon.) E. O. Isemin, Secretary Council of Oro Traditional Rulers, His Highness Etim Oquong, 19 Clan Heads, 167 Village Heads across Oro nation.
Also, Akpakip Oro Cyclists Association numbered 418 adopted the Governor for second term.
