The people of Ibesikpo Asutan have hailed Governor Udom Emmanuel over the planned free medical treatment exercise billed to take place on Saturday 29th October 2016 at Health Center, Ikot Akpabio, in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of the State.
Exchanging views with newsmen on Friday, the facilitator of the Project, Comrade Ekemini Ukim, who is the Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Supervision hinted that Ikot Akpabin Community was in high spirit as a team of medical experts within and outside the country will be available to give free medical treatment to over 500 people in the community.
In his words: "Good health and physical wellbeing of the people are major indices that determine the healthy condition of a nation or state.
"A vibrant and healthy populace contributes maximally to the development processes of government, as human resource is very essential part in the growth and expansion of all sectors.
"In realization of this, the Udom Emmanuel-led administration has not relented in ensuring that all necessary facilities and programmes are put in place for the good health and survival of the people".
The Ibesikpo Asutan born heavyweight politician, Mr Ukim, specifically eulogized the Udom Emmanuel led government on its efforts in "providing basic healthcare to the people, payment of Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) to Medical and Dental practitioners in the state from June 2015, conducting of basic Life Support Training for Doctors, Nurses, Drivers and Porters; surveillance of diseases targeted for elimination and outbreak control; distribution of intervention items and amenities to health facilities across the state; Training of 272 (Two Hundred and Seventy-two) registered nurses and midwives in the state under the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Programme (MCPDP) among others".
The facilitator divulged that the benevolence was borne out of his sincere desire to complement government’s efforts in the health sector and therefore invited all and sundry irrespective of their age and background to take advantage of the free medical exercise.
Ukim, also used the occasion to invite all political office holders from Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government, clergymen, the traditional institution, public-spirited individuals, captains of industries and well-meaning Nigerians to the flag-off of the exercise coming up on Saturday, 29th October at Health Centre, Ikot Akpabio, Ibesikpo Asutan LGA.
