By Mbosowo Essien | To the royal fathers of Mbikpong Ikot Edim,a reputable village in Ibesikpo Asutan,it was the home coming of the son of the soil when the member for Ibesikpo Asutan State Constituency,Rt.Hon.(Elder)Aniekan Uko Stormed the palace of his village Head,Eteidung John Okon Etim on a thank you visit for their support during his election where he also brightened the faces of the royal fathers with a promise of a befitting state of the Arts Town Hall.
Speaking at the event,the Ibesikpo Asutan lawmaker who was flanked by his campaign organization IBOROAKAM said he came to thanked the chiefs for their show of love during his election bid as well as report progress.
"My royal fathers,I greet you.My visit today is simple.I came to express my heart felt appreciation for your support during my election which brought my emergence and to also report progress on my achievements so far in just a little over one year" he continue
While highlighting his achievements the lawmaker used the opportunity to equally thanked the royal fathers for supporting the government of Udom Gabriel Emmanuel whom he described as the "Mr Right" of Akwa Ibom.
High point of the event was the official pronouncement by the member of a state of the Arts Town Hall to the village which he said was one of his campaign promise to the village council.
'As a way of marching words with action,the demolition of the old town hall structure takes immediate effect and am poised to hand over the keys of the new edifice latest December first week"he assured.
The house committee chair on Rules&Ethics said the gesture was his own way of pitching the royal fathers with modern settings of a town hall with seasoned facilities.
Elder Uko however promised the village chieftains of effective representation in the hallow chamber and timely report of progress.
Responding,the elated village head Eteidung John Okon Etim who started with the familiar chorus of"Owo amanyene eti mkpo anam asian"described the Ibesikpo Asutan spokesman as their son whom they are well pleased in both representation and impact on the lives of his people.
Eteidung John Okon flanked by his council of chiefs brought to the knowledge of the gathering the various government presence Elder Uko has used his position to attract to the village and described him as a man God has brought to affect future generation.
"By this rare gift of a befitting town hall,our son you have left a legacy that even the next generation and even those unborn will live to remember.May God continue to sustain you and your family to continue putting smiles on our faces.
The village boss however used the occasion to assure the lawmaker of their unflinching support to him and the government of Udom Emmanuel.
As a way of practicalising his promise,the event terminated at the old town hall building where it was pulled down by elated youths of the village who could not hide their joy over the August gift
as they pulled down the old structure chanting" Aniekan Uko,ONO mkpo inam"
