Press Statement
On behalf of the Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the Chairmanship of H.E. Senator Ahmed Makarfi, CON, and the entire PDP family nationwide, we wish to congratulate H. E. Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State and the entire people of the State on the occasion of the 29th Anniversary of Akwa Ibom State.
You will recall that Akwa Ibom State was created on September 23, 1987 by the then Military Government of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, GCFR, and carved out from the old Cross River State in the South-South Region of Nigeria.
On this joyous occasion, the Party wishes to felicitate with the Governor and the good people of the State for their togetherness in the last 29 years. Akwa Ibom is home of the PDP and the Party has improved the fortune of the State since the inception of the 4th Republic in 1999. The PDP therefore urge Governor Udom to continue in his milestone achievements in infrastructural development and good policies to deepen the success of past PDP Administrations.
Yesterday also marked the First Anniversary of the ‘Dakkada Philosophy’ of H. E. Governor Udom’s governance initiative which is a clarion call to mental re-awakening, a campaign for spiritual re-birth, moral transformation and attitudinal re-orientation to enable the people of the State further re-discover their innate abilities for attaining greater heights.
Finally, we commend Her Excellency, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, Wife of the Governor for standing solidly with her husband, the entire PDP Akwa Ibom State Chapter and other apparatus of government that have worked tirelessly to make the Anniversary celebrations a success.
Once again, Congratulations to Akwa Ibomites at home and in the Diaspora.
