DON'T GET IN TROUBLE HANDLING YOUR PR YOURSELF

There's nothing like Do-it-yourself PR. It's far from what DIY proponents think.
You can be a College professor, and still are illiterate to what a profession like PR really is. And you'd be courageously handling your PR yourself, heading for economic ignominy, proudly. I tell you what, if you think that;
PR is good networking
PR is publicity
PR is media consulting
PR is 'brown envelope' (Shame!)
PR is public speaking
PR is corporate fashion
Lobbying is that lobbying you know
PR is Facebook (What a shame!)
PR is journalism (like Nigeria's recent Ministers of Information)
You are sour wrong!! Even worse; among certain 'sassy' organisations in Lagos, some people introduce themselves as PR consultants, when all they should be is = wardrobe managers.

The sooner we understand the uniqueness of each professional field, the quicker we can structure our market(s), the quicker we can grow the macro-economy.

And if you're practicing PR when you've never heard of Decree 6 of June 1990, you could be on hot stove in weeks. I encourage you to do 3 things.
1. Seek the education
2. and legal license
3. volunteer for PR projects
4. enjoy the PR industry.

Uduak Umo wrote this, and I'll be available with tips for young and intending PR scholars, practitioners. Don't wait to get big practicing illegally.
