By Evelyn AFFIA: As part of his town Hall meeting and Empowerment programme, the member representing Etinan Federal constituency and the chairman House Committee on Inter-parliamentary Relations in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Sam Ikon has today empowered over five hundred people with working tools such as desktop computer, Sewing Machine,motor cycle, generator, Clipper, welding Machine, grinding machine, grass cutter and refrigerator among several others in a bid to fulfilled his earlier campaign promise made to the people of the area
"It is worthy of note that the administration as led by our dear Governor Emmanuel Udom has shown great sense of direction in the pursuit of youthful engagement through entrepreneurial skill trainings, vocation, improved ICT knowledge, grants to farmers, window etc as well as improved platform for the inter -personal engagement between the government and its citizenry"
Ikon maintained that the town hall meeting and empowerment programme seeks to follow the trend as well as honour the mandate of the office he swore to uphold.
The lawmaker was very delighted to be deeply appreciated by his kinsmen, women and youths while urging the beneficiaries to make the best use of the tools adding that great things start from small beginning.
He therefore called on the people of the area to keep on supporting Governor Udom's led administration and the tremendous project he has embarked on so far for the betterment of the citizenry.
Speaking differently, the youths and women expressed their profound gratitude to their lawmaker for not only coming back home to wine and dine with them but also deeming it fit to teach them how to fish by empowering them with working tools.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of empowerment tools to the beneficiaries of Etinan federal Constituency.
In attendance were, Akwa State PDP chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo; Member Representing Etinan in Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Barr. Dennis Akpan; The Paramount Ruler of Etinan, Edidem Ime Dickson Umoette; Special Assistance to Governor on Political Legislative Affairs, Rt. Hon. Anietie Etuk.
Others include; International President, ACA, Bishop Andrew Uwanta; Special Assistance to Governor on Labour Matters , comrade Unyime Usoro; Special Assistant to Government on Student Affairs, Otobong Akpan; Kinsmens, women and youths among several others.
