The 2016 maiden edition of Akwa Ibom Watch Award (AKWA 2016) has been postponed from 27 May 2016 to June 17, 2016.
This is contained in a released signed by the coordinator of the award, Mr. Emmanuel Godwin.
According to the released, the postponement is to enable to group honour and celebrate Nigerian children as they make the 2016 Children's Day anniversary.
"This is to enable us honour the children for whom this day is declare for nationwide".
The group also noted that the three weeks adjustment will give the group opportunity to join in the celebration of the 2016 Democracy Day.
"This will us give us a noble opportunity to celebrate the Democracy Day which we ought to as Akwa Ibom sons and Daughters going by the good works that our amiable Governor Emmanuel is doing in our dear state as the Governor Emmanuel-led administration will officially mark it's first year on May 29".
The group regret all the inconveniences caused by the postponement and pledge that the awards will be treated with high level of transparency and decency while announcing that voting is still ongoing for subcategories of the Merit Awards and will end on June 13, 2016.
