Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has applauded the people of the State for the peaceful and transparent conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party Chapter Congress held across the thirty one Local Government Areas of the state.
Governor Emmanuel who spoke at Onna Local Government Area after his participation in the election of the Chapter Executive and Delegates to the forthcoming state congress commended the maturity exhibited by the people and described it as a testimony of their love for the party and commitment to attainment of good governance.
The Governor lauded Officials of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and National Officers of the party who were on ground to monitor the exercise and sued for a replication of such transparency in the forthcoming State Congress.
The Chairman Ward and Chapter Congresses for Akwa Ibom State, Senator Umar Tsauri, lauded the peaceful exercise acknowledging that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is indeed at home in Akwa Ibom State. He congratulated the state Governor for the harmony experienced in the party at the state level.
The Commissioner for Works Mr Ephraim Inyang who was the Returning Officer at the Onna Local Government congress said option A4 remains the most credible and transparent way of electing people into positions of authority.
Governor Emmanuel participated in the Congress alongside his wife, Martha, Federal House of Representatives Member for Onna Federal Constituency Mrs Owoidighe Ekpoattai, Onna House of Assembly member, Mr Nse Essien, Transition Committee Chairman for the Area, Mr Ufot Akpan and other Political Stakeholders of the area.
