… Seeks collaboration, support for the Governor
The Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Governor on Inter-Party Matters, Hon. Lawrence Udoh JP, last Wednesday, 6th April, 2016 moved to unite political parties in the state.
At a meeting which took place at the CNPP state Secretariat, Uyo and attended by chairmen of different political parties, the Governor’s Aide appreciated the leaders of respective political parties under the aegis of Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), for their support and cooperation so far to Gov. Udom Emmanuel’s administration.
Hon Udoh who before now was a state Chairman of Mega Progressive People’s Party (MPPP) urged his colleagues to join hands with other well meaning Akwa Ibom People to move the state to it greater height.
While stressing that a house that is divided against itself cannot stand on its own, neither achieve progress, Hon. Udoh called on all the state Chairmen of political parties in the state especially the aggrieved members of Association who lost out during the last CNPP election held in the state to bury their individual differences and as well come together to work for the common interest of Akwa Ibom people and for the welfare of members of respective political parties in the state.
While describing Governor Udom Emmanuel as a sincere and passionate leader who accommodates all in his leadership, the Governor’s Aide stressed the need for political parties in the state to take advantage of the opportunity given to them by the governor by appointing a chairman of opposition party as helms the affairs of Inter-Party in the state. According to him, because of such gesture shown to them by the governor, there is need to give Mr. Udom Emmanuel the necessary backing for him to succeed.
He equally urged them to disengage from unnecessary blackmail and pull-down syndrome as it will not attract growth and development to the people of the state.
Also speaking during the meeting were the chairman of Alliance for Democracy, Pastor Ekomobong Akpan; the state Chairman of CNPP, Engr. Williams Ikpe; the State Chairman of UPN, Otuekong Cyril Michael and that of CPP, Elder Ime Hosana, amongst others who commended and appreciate Deacon Udom Emmanuel for appointing their colleague as his Aide.
They equally thanked the Governor’s Aide for his sterling leadership qualities and for carrying them along in the activities of the state, pledging their continuous support and cooperation for him and his boss.
In their separate speeches, they urged Governor Udom Emmanuel and his Aide, Hon Lawrence Udoh not to b distracted by unwholesome attitude displayed by some political parties leaders in the state but should continue in their course of serving the people of the state. They also used the opportunity to call on their colleagues to come and join hands in moving the state forward.
The highpoint of the meeting was the formation of a reconciliation committee by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Party Matters, Hon Lawrence Udoh.
The Committee, according to Hon. Udoh is bestowed with the mandate to reconcile all aggrieved members of CNPP and to bring back reports within two weeks interval.
