Global Pilot : More woes await the All Progressives Congress APC, in Akwa Ibom state as the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCOM has dragged the former governorship candidate of the party Mr Umana Umana and wife Florence before the special fraud unit of the Nigeria Police in Lagos over criminal diversion of loan facility.
Investigation by Global Pilot reveals that Kaniex Integrated Services owned by Mrs Florence Umana, had obtained a loan facility of N100million under the false intent of developing a permanent yard for the company's operation.
The funds were said to have been criminally diverted into purchase of BankPHB shares. However following the purchase of the non-performing loan of Bank PHB by AMCON, the fraud was discovered and the corporation has set out to arrest the culprits, including one Ubong Ubiam believed to be a sibling of Mrs Umana and a board member of Kaniex Integrated Services.
It was gathered that to evade arrest, the Umanas have rushed to the federal high court to procure an injunction and shield themselves from the wrath of AMCON.
However, the authorities of the asset management corporation have vowed to bring all the culprits to book and to recover the said funds.
"Much to our chagrin, the suspects have denied such obligation and are rather playing hide and seek, even when they duly executed the letter of offer," an AMCON inside source told our reporter. The petition by AMCON is before the special fraud unit of the Nigeria Police in Lagos
Etim Etim and Iboro Otongaran who are Mr Umana’s media aides were unable to respond to our calls as at the time of going to press.
