Ukwok people Passes Vote of Confidence on Gov. Udom Emmanuel…pledges support for his second term bid


The people of Ukwok Clan in Ini Local Government Area have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel following his sterling leadership style and selfless service to the people of the state.
The people of the clan made their intention publicly during the solemn Assembly/Easter Fiesta organized by their son and Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-party Matters, Hon Lawrence Udoh, held at Government Primary School, Usuk Ukwok, Ini Local Government Area on Saturday, 26th March, 2016.
 The prayer summit which attracted prominent personalities within and outside the clan was attended by the people from the 24 villages of Ukwok including the Traditional Rulers, Elders, Women, Youths and clergies as well as leaders and members of respective political parties in Ward 9 and 10 that made up the clan.
Speaking during the converge, a former Vice Chairman of Ini LGA, Chief S.A Obiofin thanked the Almighty God and the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for the appointment of their son. He described the appointment as first of it kind to the people of Ukwok as it has never happen in the history Ukwok clan. 
Describing the Governor’s Aide as a vibrant and energetic young man, Obiofin urged him to always be loyal to his Boss, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and prayed God to protect, guide and grant Udom Emmanuel and Lawrence Udoh with more wisdom to serve the people of the state effectively.

On his part, a former councilor who represented the people of Ukwok ward 9, Hon. Asualkoh Augustine said since the inception of democracy in 1999, the people of Ukwok have never had such opportunity to be elevated to higher political position, he thanked the Almighty God for visiting the people Ukwok and asked to blessDeacon Udom Emmanuel for recognizing and appointing their son as his aide.
He used the opportunity to draw the government’s attention to deplorable stage of linking road to respective communities in Ukwok clan. According to him, the poor  roads network have completing cut off the people of Ukwok from other communities Ini and Akwa Ibom state, while appealing to the state government to salvage them from the situation. He specifically mentioned the Community Secondary Secondly located at Usuk Ukwok which according to him, ever since school was taken over by government, there is no government presence, adding that apart from infrastructures, there is no teacher in the school. 

Other people who spoke during the solemn assembly were Elder Effiong Paul the youth of ward 9, Ezekiel Emmah; the youth president of ward 10, Saviour Ikamaise; as well as the women leaders of ward 9 and10.
In their separate speeches, the speakers appealed to the governor for the empowerment of the youth of Ukwok, speaking further, they maintain that the upcoming chairmanship seat of Ukwok is currently zoned to the people of Ukwok and that they will resist any imposition by anybody.
Also speaking, the representation of Ukwok clan head, Chief John Akpabio (JP) advised the people of the clan to be united and so  as to achieve progress. He thanked the governor’s aide for recognizing God first in his life by organizing the prayer summit. He equally thanked the state governor, for appointing him as his aide and prayed God to continue to bless and protects him. The clan head representative used the opportunity to warn youths to shun violence and other negative tendency that may not attract development to Ukwok but support government in order to move Ukwok to greater height.

Responding, the Special Assistant to governor, on Inter- party matters, Hon. Lawrence Udoh, while speaking specifically appreciated the Almighty God and the Akwa Ibom state Governor Deacon Udom Emmanuel for his appointment. He equally thanked the governor for his sincere and passionate heart to serve the people of Ukwok, Ini Local government and Akwa Ibom people in general.
He commended the people of Ukwok for their support to the governor so far, calling on the sons and daughters of Ukwok to put all hands on desk to develop and take Ukwok to greater heights.
According to him, without peace and unity, there is no progress, his advice the people embrace and be united in order to achieve a common interest.
While thanking his people for coming out enmass to solemn assembly, Hon. Udoh, urged them to render their necessary supports to other political office holders from Ini Local Government Area. He equally advised them to continue to support and pray for Udom Emmanuel administration to succeed as he will remain a governor of the state for eight years.    
The high point of the event were prayers for Ukwok Clan; Mr. Lawrence Udoh, Ini LGA, Hon Etetim Anwatim, Hon Emmanuel Ekpenyong, Dr. Glory Edet, Hon Iboro Ekanem, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the meeting also witnessed the motion for vote of confidence pass on the person of Deacon Udom Emmanuel for his leadership ingenuity. The motion was moved by a former Councilor who represented Ukwok Ward 10, Hon Effiong Essien Udofia and seconded by Hon (Elder) Asuaiko from Ward 9.
