“You can’t light your lamp and leave it under the bushel”
When performance beats our imagination and the man at the centre state deserves applause, why not give it to him? To me, one of the most interesting aspect of living is watching folks you’ve known way back spring and filter into life’s treasurable platform, whether in business, sports, politics, corporate institutions and so forth. Life indeed comes in phases. The decision, steps and ideas you build determines one’s destination and aim in life. Some start up with glittering and bright moves, others pick up midway into life, a good number wobble alongside a good start, some don’t attempt to move at all. Above all, a greater percentage are bereft of ideas on how, where and when to launch out. And that’s just the way it is.
Over the years and reminiscing those years on AM Express Extra TV Show on NTA, Uyo. Series of outings and presentational sessions puts me across and coming in contact with Special Guests and those you term as displaying rare futuristic attributes. Many passed along the way and I kept a whole lot of roll call. Then he was passionately into ICT-related works and projects. A regular guest on our technology educational segment and beat. And with that in-house style, he is fully tuned to, let me introduce my guest.
An ICT expert and software programmer, grassroots mobiliser, youth leader, activist and an emerging political force to be reckoned with, his venture into the murky political terrain is somewhat interesting and from the look of things, he is enjoying the swimming tide. Though the goings got tough ab initio but his constant trials, will-power and the pursuit to reach the end ratifies the success story. Like an earlier reference, even though the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
Member representing Itu State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Idongesit Ituen, has risen to the apex of his struggles and desire over the years. Twice, he had contested to represent his people in this present capacity but the pendulum didn’t swing to his favour then, the third adventure saw him gallantly, with limited stress yet with a strong will to succeed got him overwhelmingly elected by the good people of his constituency on April 11, 2015 to man the representative status in their capacity. Before and all through the process of electioneering and subsequent emergence of Gov. Udom Emmanuel, Prince Ituen has continuously displayed loyal and partner in progress in the entire political process. His undivided, unshaken and utmost dedication to tow the path of equity, justice and fair-choice in the 2015 political calculation, close and keen followers ascertain has contributed in the icing on his cake.
Confidently, he has casted and moulded himself as one whose contributions so far is not a push-over. An A-list lawmaker who on resumption of the Sixth Assembly, strategically braced up and positioned himself to facing the onerous task of effectively participating in all house deliberation. The interest of his immediate constituency nay Akwa Ibom ranks high his priority and working (legislative) preference.
Currently, the Chairman, House Committee on Works and Transport, Hon. Prince Idongesit Ituen, acknowledges the flow of loyalty in his veins and all that he does commands dignity and the tenacity to deliver. As a first timer in the act of legislation, Ituen has towered above his measure by exhibiting integrity in the affairs of legislating. Experiences gathered many years in various fields of endeavour have been an added value to his credible performance so far.
Always at home with his people, activities of human interest crops up in his domain day-in-day-out. It is either an empowerment programme, a football competitions, grassroots meet the people tour, high powered clan gathering or women development initiative making the news. Proudly an Ibibio son, he was inducted late last year into the fold of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio owing to his outstanding contributions to raising the standard of socio-cultural groups in tandem with the Ibibio tradition and cutting across climes. Very youthful in nature, he has been through different political affiliations and camps but clearly and always firm in choosing where he rightly belongs. An avowed, dedicated, loyal and complimentary ally in the emergence of the Divine Mandate project, he is definitely not regretting his timely investment. Phenomenal in his ways and approach in handling matters in all ramifications, Ituen’s philosophy of life defines him in a class of his own. A resource and prudently enterprising in nature, he has bared all in his kitty to attaining the zenith of representation in the Assembly.
Itu is indeed proud to have a son in him. Married with children, Idy Ituen as he is fondly being referred to, is maximising this God-given opportunity to his benefit and that of his greatest concern – Itu State Constituency. His contributions on the floor of the House is pacesetting and commendable.
