The member representing Mkpat Enin State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Otobong Ndem has commiserated with the family of late Revd. Sunday Dickson Essien over the demise of the clergy.
Hon. Ndem, was represented by his Press Secretary, Edidiong Udobia, during a condolence visit to the bereaved family yesterday, extolled the good qualities of the late clergy, saying that he was a true man of God.
"Anyone really knew the late Reverend Sunday Essien, will testify that he was a true man of God. He was a dedicated leader of the church. Situation like this makes us as humans question why good men don't last but we must comfort ourselves with the word of God which says that in everything we must give thanks to God".
The lawmaker further urged the family to take solace in the fact that the late clergy lived a life worthy of emulation, adding that though they grief now, that there is an assurance that joy will come in the morning.
Until his death, late Revd. Sunday Dickson Essien, fondly called 'Pastor By God's Grace', was the General Superintendent/Chairman of Conference, Qua Iboe Church, Nigeria.
According to the funeral arrangements, the funeral service commenced with a Commendation Service in honour of the late clergy held this morning at the church headquarters, 168 Aka Road while the burial proper will be held in Methodist Primary School, Ikot Akpan Ukam, Mkpat Enin.
Hon. Otobong Ndem is among the dignitaries who will be at the burial to pay the last respect to the late clergy.
