*Appoints FIFA Match Commissioner As New Chairman

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has announced the immediate dissolution of interim board and management of Akwa United Football Club of Uyo.
In a release signed by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Aniekan Umanah, and dated 1st March, 2016, the State Chief Executive, announced the appointment of Mr Paul Bassey, as the new Chairman of an interim board and management of the Uyo based club side.
Bassey's appointment according to the release takes immediate effect and would last for three months.
With the latest development, the Elder Nse Ubeh led interim board has been bundled into the abyss.
Meanwhile, the new Chairman, Mr Bassey, popularly called Paul 'Sports' Bassey, is a foremost Sports Journalist and administrator, a FIFA and CAF match Commissioner as well as member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical Committee.
Bassey has been involved in the development of football in the State In particular and country at large.
