Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has said that his administration is on course to achieving sustainable development as enunciated in the divine mandate and called for prayers from the people for the fulfillment of God's purpose in the state.
Governor Emmanuel made the call during the February Edition of Government House Prayer Meeting held at the Latter House Chapel, Governor's Lodge, Uyo .
He expressed appreciation to God for the validation of the Divine mandate by the Supreme Court and particularly acknowledgd the prayers from the clergies and all the churches within and outside for the divine intervention throughout the trying moment and thanked God for the victory as well as the people of the State for their labour of love and solidarity.
Governor Emmanuel intimated the congregation of the shortfall in the funds allocated to the Local Government Councils which almost made it impossible for the Area Councils to meet their heavy wage bill explaining that the state had to source for funds to augment the Council's allocation.
He sympathised with the Labour Union Leaders at the Local Government Councils who misconstrued government sincere efforts toward their welfare by threatening industrial action and Challenged the Leaders to compare notes with their counterparts in other states saying that they would have reason to appreciate the steps taken so far by his administration to ensure that their welfare is given priority attention.
The State Chief Executive commended the Political Class for their steadfastness and expressed pity on those who, out of fear, signed pacts with the opposition expecting the worst and urged them to desist from acts of treachery and remain focus with the administration.
Preaching on the theme "Lord We Thank You", Rev. John Linus of the Word of Faith Covenant Ministry, Uyo, identified thanksgiving as the most powerful weapon of unsettling the enemy and compelled God to do more adding that acts of ingratitude displeases God and urged all to appreciate God irrespective of the situation they find themselves.
