SUPREME COURT SHOCKER EX-ABAK COUNCIL BOSS DIES OF HEARTBREAK

The tsunami that heralded the Supreme Court judgement in the Akwa Ibom state governorship election has swept off a former local government chairman of Abak Mr Aniediabasi Stephen Udo.
It was gathered that Mr Udo, popularly known as Udo Odok, died of alleged shock after being informed that the supreme court had thrashed out his principal (Umana’s) petition and affirmed Udom as the governor.

Mr. Udo was Abak council chairman between 2008 and 2011, but lost his bid  to proceed to the State House of Assembly in 2011 losing in the primaries to Elder Friday Iwok.
Mr Udo who alongside few disgruntled former chairmen had joined the failed campaign team of Mr Umana Umana after being asked to invest in the project with the sum of N20m each.
Umana, it would be recalled had published a UBA account for any member who wishes to be taken seriously to pay their seed toll. Only such financially committed members where allowed into the caucus meetings of the campaign team.
Mr Udo was said to have sold some of his largesse including some landed properties in choice parts of the state capital, since as former chairmen their minimum entry requirement was N20million.

However on hearing the defeat of Mr Umana Umana on Wednesday night, Mr Udo Oduok went into a coma and passed on the following morning.
Among those who lamented the death of the former council boss, some women in the area said it does appear Udo’s brief stint in the political arena fetched him more doom than glory as he had in the last six years lost a daughter, wife and finally his own life.
They blamed the dubiousness of Mr Umana Umana and his greedy campaign for the demise of the Otoro-Abak Clan chieftain.
Meanwhile other Chairmen who also defected to the APC following their defeats in the PDP have continued to meet brick walls in their quest to return to the PDP, and are yet to be accepted into the State ruling party.

It would be recalled that after suffering a massive defeat in the hands of the Governor Udom Emmanuel at the supreme court, the adventurous Umana Umana had disappeared into thin air and all attempt to reconnect with him and his followers have been futile. But the frustrated APC chieftains who had thought that they will use their Yoruba connections to upturn the mandate of Governor Emmanuel, have started coming back to lobby for places in the PDP.

However the closed door has remained shut as PDP elders, one after the other want them to remain in the political wilderness for the next 7 years.
In the meantime, the fate of two former local government area Chairmen hang in the balance as frantic efforts are on to revive them after the shock collapse of their 2015 project, which had consumed their life servings.

One of the APC prostituting former Chairman is said to be at the intensive care unit of a private hospital believed to be owned by another former local government chairman off Nwaniba road; while the other shaken former chairman is languishing at a private ward in the University of Uyo teaching hospital.
Their present condition is worsened by the failure of Mr Umana Umana to take phone calls or reassure them of the way forward.
