Abak Federal Constituency women under the aegis of Divine Restoration Women yesterday gathered in their numbers to thank God and celebrate the victory of Mr Udom Emmanuel at the Supreme Court.
The special thanksgiving victory service which took place at the Commissioner for Information residence Abak also witnessed the presentation of the award of Excellence to the wife of the state Governor, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel as the Eka Iberedem Iban Abak Federal Constituency.
The Governor’s wife, Mrs. Emmanuel speaking at the event acknowledged God as the Supreme Being who gave the people of Akwa Ibom State justice through the apex court thus, returning all the glory to God.
Represented by the wife of the Speaker Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mrs. Uduak Onofiok Luke, Mrs. Emmanuel expressed her gratitude to the women for their sacrifice of love, prayers and unbiased loyalty to the Government of Mr. Udom Emmanuel, promising that Government will do all it can to empower the womenfolk.
The state First Lady also lauded the women for always standing in the gap for the success of the Government, assuring them and the state in entirety that they will benefit from appointive and elective positions. To further express her gratitude, she gave cash and gift items to the women saying the governor is gender friendly.
The host Mrs Maureen Umanah in her remarks admonished the women to imbibe the spirit of love and unity towards one another stating that sharing and caring for the less privileged is expression of our love for God. She appreciated the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for the ongoing industrialization projects in Abak and his choice of an Abak son, Mr Moses Ekpo as the deputy governor. Mrs. Umana also extolled the goodly virtues of the governor's wife, Mrs. Martha Emmanuel which according to her is the empowerment of women through her pet project Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Programme (FEYReP).
In his goodwill message, The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umana did not mince words, but attributed all successes recorded by the Governor and wife to the glory to God, adding that his victory at the Supreme Court was an outright play of justice and equity and fairness. He also commended the Governor for his giant developmental strides in Abak and across the state.
Also lending their support, President Divine Restoration Women, Abak Federal Constituency, Mrs. Victoria Thompson, the Coordinator of the group, Mrs. Ubon Udo Uko, the President, National Women Fellowship Qua Iboe Church, Abak and Obonganwan Magdalene Udom in their goodwill messages unanimously appreciated the Governor and his amiable wife for their passion and drive to move the state to enviable heights.
Apostle Godsday Idung during his sermon titled "God gives a song in the night” with the text taken from Job 35:10 harped on the need for men to be thankful to God pointing out that thanksgiving and gratitude to places one on a pedestal of continuous blessings. He encouraged them to keep faith and not lose courage in times of trials because God will definitely come render help.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of cash and gifts items to Mrs. Abasiama Itoro Titus, a young mother of triplets (3 boys) from Ediene Abak (Urban ward 1). Over a hundred and fifty women were also appreciated with cash gifts, wrappers and food items for their commitment and unalloyed support to the group.
In attendance were LEWA members from Itu, Ukanafun, Mbo, Ikot Abasi/ Eastern Obolo State Constituencies and the board chairman, Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission (EARCOM) Mrs. Christy Obot, herself and indigene of the area.
