Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing in Akwa Ibom has reaffirmed its support for the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel adding that he should remain focused in his bid to give the good people of the state quality leadership.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing who reaffirmed their position towards supporting Gov. Udom, as part of the resolution reached at the end of their meeting in Uyo over the weekend, said that they had endorsed the candidature of Udom/Ekpo during 2015 general election and their position remained unchangeable even in this trying times occasioned by the unpopular decision of some few persons whose interest are sectional.
According to the resolution signed by the Chairman, Mazi Emmanuel Ikechukwu-Jonathan and the Secretary, Mazi Jason Emenike, the group said as the largest non indigenous ethnic group resident in Akwa Ibom, they have no choice than to support Governor Emmanuel because his candidature is a true reflection of equity, justice and fair play which the Igbos promote in their daily dealings.
''Ohanaeze Ndigbo is an Apex Igbo Socio Cultural Organization established to provide the platform where all Ndigbo within and outside Nigeria may come together for the purpose of nurturing better understanding and harmonious coexistence among themselves and other ethnic groups in Nigeria; and all communities wherever they reside.
“During the buildup of the general election, the National leadership of Ohanaeze Youth Wing paid a visit to the Director General of the Divine Mandate campaign organization, Chief Idongesit Nkanga, and we in that visit endorsed the candidature Udom/Ekpo for the governorship and deputy governorship position of Akwa Ibom state respectively based on their wealth of experience and exposure.
“Based on the current litigation filed by the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mr. Umana Okon Umana, challenging the election of Governor Udom Emmanuel, it is therefore pertinent to inform the good people of Akwa Ibom that our position on Gov. Udom remains unchangeable and we therefore reaffirm our support for him because of his wealth of experience and exposure which he has translated in the number of investors he has so far attracted to Akwa Ibom within the few months he has occupied the hilltop mansion.
''It is important to note that no Governor in the country has been able to rival Gov. Udom in terms of number of foreign investors he has been able to attract to Akwa Ibom.
''As merchants in buying and selling, we see the achievements recorded so far by Gov. Udom towards industrializing the state as a welcome development and we believe that the best thing we should do is to support him to succeed because we will also be beneficiaries of these gestures.
''We use this medium to call on the good people of Akwa Ibom to rally round this God given leader so that he will unleash the quantum of connections and leadership experience to industrialize the state and place the state ahead of other states in the country.'' They stated.
While commending the Supreme Court for truly being the hope of the common man by upholding the election of Gov. Nyesom Wike as the duly elected governor of Rivers State, they hoped that same would be the case of Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom.
''We long for the same type of ruling as that of Rivers State governorship elections petitions tribunal in Akwa Ibom so that the governor will be focused in giving the people of the state quality leadership.'' They added.
The group while commending the good people of Akwa Ibom for their hospitality said that they would continue to support the growth of the state.
