PRESS STATEMENT BY CHIEF ASSAM E. ASSAM, SAN
On Wednesday the 10th of February 2016 at about 4.06 pm, Senator Godswill Akpabio called me to complain about a press statement I am said to have made about him and his late mother in an online publication “The Killer Punch News”. He later graciously sent me the link to the website of the publication, which I have now read.
I must say right away that I granted no press interview to ‘The Killer Punch News” and “TheMail”, from where the story is said to have been culled.
It is public knowledge that if I intend to make a statement for publication, I write and sign it. If I have a comment to make about a person, it is to that person I speak.
I want to use this opportunity to remind us that that there is time for everything: a time to fight and a time to lay down arms. For those who think that I am still fighting Akpabio for cheating me at the December 8, 2014, PDP primary elections, they must be informed that I have since moved on. They can emulate me or wage their own war. I have no intention to live in the past.
