Every resolution starts with a powerful catch phrase, appealing to emotions of the people in order to spur them to action. In the same vein, DAKKADA, is a clarion call on patriots to salvage Akwa Ibom State.
According to Mr. Ime Uwah, Special Assistant to the Governor on Marketing & Brand Management, “Dakkada is an action word, it’s a call to self service.
“Akwa Ibom youths must rise and take advantage of available opportunities, be responsible for their actions and become achievers.”
The Dakkada Initiative was launched September last year with a lot of awareness and publicity campaigns, but it didn’t stop with the celebrations. His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, through the Directorate of Marketing and Brand Management, is taking the message to the hinterlands where every household and every youth is educated on the Dakkada message.
So far, the impact is evident in the efforts our youths are putting to become resourceful, small scale businesses are springing up everywhere, there are improvements empowerment programmes.
It is without doubt that the mindset of lots of youths that where laid back have changed positively since the launch.
Uwah maintains that “Dakkada is one of the most successful campaigns launched by the state government. This is so because the word in itself is instructive, asking that we all rise to our individual faith of greatness.
“Its message is clear, and it requires actions to be taken by both the government and its people. So, it’s a call for partnership between the government and the people, it’s first of its kind.”
