
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has presented a letter of appointment to a Physically Challenged Person, Mr Monday Udo Ukanidem whom he had offered appointment into the Civil Service during the End-of Year Get together organised for the Peoples Democratic Party faithful at the Party Secretariat, Uyo.
Mr Ukanidem, who is a native of Ikot Ukpong Ikot Udoawan in Obot Akara Local Government Area is a School Certificate holder employed as a Porter on a Grade Level 03 in the State Civil Service.
Presenting the letter, Governor Udom Emmanuel said he was moved by Mr Ukanidem's resilience and commitment to Civic duties having sacrificed his comfort to attended the End of year meeting and other activities of the Party, the circumstance of his Life notwithstanding.
Governor Emmanuel said his administration would continue to show the humanitarian aspect of governance to the people as a demonstration of its responsiveness to the well-being of the citizens and expressed optimism that the appointment would enable the beneficiary live a better life and contribute meaningfully to his family as well as the society. He congratulated him for the appointment.
Mr Ukanidem who was accompanied by his Wife, Chairman of his Local Government Council Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Amama and his Village Head, Chief Ifiok Ntekpere, expressed appreciation to the Governor for the offer stating that the appointment has changed his fortune as he would be better placed to attain to his life commitment and access proper medical attention on his Leg which was amputated following a motor accident.
Mr Ukanidem prayed God to bless the Governor and his family and wished him a successful eight years tenure.
