A socio-political pressure group, Nsit Ubium Progressives Network, NPN, has warned the Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress in the state, Obong Umana Okon Umana to desist forthwith from attacking Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke, the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly through his media hirelings.
Addressing newsmen after a consultative meeting of the group in Uyo, the Chairman of NPN, Comrade Ubong Effiong said, as Nsit Ubium Youths, they will not stand aside and watch how Obong Umana use his attack dogs to insult and demean the office and person of the Speaker of AKHA, who they say, is an illustrious son of the area whose effective and people-centred representation has made them proud.
The NPN urged Umana to immediately call to order, one facebook Lawyer, known as Inibehe Effiong to stop his "senseless" and unnecessary attacks on Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke or risk facing the wrath of Nsit Ubium youths.
The group recalled that, Obong Umana cannot continue living as the only cock in the area to crow and move to destroy any other son of the area who rises to political prominence.
The NPN leader explained that, Umana's desperate ambition to be governor drove him to pull down Amb. Sam Edem from being the Chairman of the Board of the Niger Delta Development and also stop Senator Effiong Bob, when the latter was seeking a third term in the Senate.
The group noted that, the speech of the Speaker at Eket during the rally organised by Eket Youths as a reception for Governor Udom Emmanuel should not warrant the abuse that the charge and bail lawyer, Effiong has cast on him(Luke), when he cannot measure up to the Speaker.
It will be recalled that, in his comments at the Eket rally, the Speaker had argued that "If not for anything else, Uyo Senatorial District does not produce oil, Ikot Ekpene does not produce oil, let Eket Senatorial District which produces 40% of the oil revenue in Nigeria have their turn..."
Speaker Onofiok Luke, maintained that for the sake of equity, justice, fair play, and peaceful co-existence in Akwa Ibom State, Eket Senatorial District should be supported by Uyo and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial Districts to take their turn as they have never produced a governor in the state since her creation.
A truth that has rankled the camp of Umana's APC as a result of which he(Umana) unleashed Inibehe Effiong to attack the Speaker. NPN has however warned that, they will not tolerate the attack on their son again.
