The Accord Party, Akwa Ibom State chapter has frowned over recent false publication credited to Bishop Samuel Akpan as published in a state based tabloid of January 10th, 2016, that Bishop Akpan has inaugurated new party leaders of Accord party in all chapters across the State.
The publication also stated that the state party boss Hon. Joseph Itiaba has pleaded for Bishop's forgiveness.
In a release signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party Mr. Aniekan Okon and made available to Journalists, the party totally condemned such publication, saying that
the alleged inauguration never took place. The Party stated clearly that if at all the said inauguration took place that it wouldn't have been done by the supposed governorship candidate and therefore warned whosoever behind the
deceitful publications to desist from it.

The Party confirmed that Bishop Akpan has never hosted nor attended any meeting with the party nor its State chairman since after the last general election, adding that
the only meeting he hosted was with members of his
campaign organization (BISAMO) not the party as stated in the publication.

Itiaba said “As a party, we don't think that the governorship candidate will set up the chapters of the party. The party is supreme”.
The party stated that, Bishop had wanted to meet with them last week Saturday, but the executive members of the party
including the 31 chapter chairmen boycotted the meeting, which the meeting was later rescheduled on the grounds that the meeting could not be held at Bishop Akpan's desired venue. They further added that “we are aggrieved
because of what Bishop Akpan did to us during the last election, which is the issue yet to be settled with the party”.

In their statements, “they are alleging our State Chairman to have begged Bishop Akpan for forgiveness, between Bishop Akpan and the party, who is supposed to beg who? Is it the party or Bishop Akpan? Is it the Chairman that is contesting
for election or Bishop Akpan? That is a very clear fact that a reasonable person should see and understand. It is Bishop
Akpan that needs the party, not the party that needs the
candidate”, the statement read.

Continuing: "Our Chairman has never, will never and can never beg Bishop Akpan to be the party's candidate or contest any election".
The party therefore described those engaged in publishing false and deceptive stories about the party as political jobbers who do not have future ambition but rather sit
around to fabricate lies to cause problems in the society.

The party warned them to disengage from such acts and respect the party because the party is supreme.
