BE GOOD AGENTS OF GOVERNMENT - TRC CHAIRMAN ADVICES TRADITIONAL RULERS By Ifiok Itiaba

The Paramount Ruler of Ibeno Local Government and Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty, Owong Effiong Archianga has adviced the newly certified village heads, clan heads and paramount ruler of Eket to be good agents of government in their localities. He gave the advice yesterday during the official presentation of certificates recognition to 77 village heads, 4 clan heads and the paramount ruler of Eket local government area. In his words: "You are agents of government in your locality, protect government properties and settle all disputes amicablly". He warned them against unnecessary injunction on companies' and government properties. Contiuning, he stressed that they should live peacefully with their subjects and also live within their respective communities. In his address, the Hon Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt Hon Victor Antai noted that Governor Udom Emmanuel has the interest of Traditional Institution at heart and will continue and has put everything in place for them to live comfortablly. He advice them not to use their position to oppress their subject but should see the protection of their subjects as paramount. Presenting the certificates on behalf of Governor Udom Emmamuel, the State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo thanked them for their support during the last governorship elections and urge them to be good leaders in their various communities.
