The Akwa Ibom State Government has awarded the contract for the construction of Anua –Mbak –Nung Oku Eshiet Beach Road to Verini Construction Limited.
The road which will have two spurs at Mbak Junction, one leading to Oron Road to help disperse the traffic congestion on Oron Road and another spur to Nwaniba road which will also help decongest traffic on Nwaniba Road.
VERINI Construction, an indigenous firm currently working on the construction of Ikot Udom road in Ibiono LGA, have shown great expertise in the delivery of good roads in the State.
The quality of work done on the Ikot Udom project has propelled the state Government to award the Anua-Mbak-Nung Oku –Ishiet Road to the firm.
The Anua-Mbak-Nung Oku –Ishiet Road, which is a 21km meter road project will have a walk path, drainage at both sides of the road and the Ishiet Beach Market will be rebuilt to international Standard.
According to the Ministry of Works, the contract sum is pecked at 3.4 billion naira and upon completion will have a jetty to assist the fishermen and merchants to be able to berth larger trollers to the market .
The Commissioner of Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-eyen said the reason for the construction of the road is due to its economic relevance as people come from the West, North and East to buy fishes and crayfish from the Ishiet Market.
He assured Uruan people of Governor Udom Emmanuel's passion to bring development to the area. He said before the end of the second quarter, another road in the Northern part of Uruan will be constructed.
