Governor Udom Emmanuel has dismissed as “pure fabrication, mischievous and outright lie” the report in a local tabloid where he was maliciously reported to have called the great people of Akwa Ibom State “stark illiterates and lazy.”
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary- Mr. Ekerete Udoh, Governor Emmanuel said “it is utterly mischievous for someone to write such a fabrication. At a time the great people of Akwa Ibom state have risen, and are claiming their God’s given potentials, at a time the spirit of greatness and a distinct Akwa Ibom spirit and identity is being celebrated throughthe philosophy of ‘dakkada’ it smacks of desperation and malicious intent for a reporter to write such an obtuse and inane story. At the well-received media briefing I had with the great people of Akwa Ibom State last Sunday, I said that I will not be distracted by the antics of people who do not understand the workings of government and how policies are formulated, but who constantly go to the media to say things they are not informed about, or lack proper understanding of. How does that translate into my calling Akwa Ibom People illiterates? Akwa Ibom people are some of the most brilliant people on the face of earth, and I am eminently proud of our people, which is the reason I launched the ‘dakkada’ movement, to show the world that we are a great and inspired people.”
The Governor also said it was preposterous the notion that recently recruited civil servant would not be paid their salary this year. "What the Governor said was that the civil service would be sanitized to weed out ghost workers and this is in line with his policy of ensuring transparency and integrity in the civil service.”
The Governor enjoined the good people of Akwa Ibom state not to be distracted by the satanic propaganda of those who have gone into alliance with the people who want to take over our commonwealth and return us to the place of servitude which the good Lord has taken us out of, the past eight and half years.
